  1.         1) Install SIO

  5. Quick Start

  7.      Create a temporary directory, change into that directory and unzip the
  8.      SIO distribution zip there.  Type INSTALL followed by the enter key. 
  9.      For a basic setup, that is all that is needed.
  10.  
  11.      If you choose to install SIO manually, the following should be done.
  12.  
  13.      BE SURE THAT ANY SERIAL MOUSE DRIVER APPEARS IN THE CONFIG.SYS BEFORE
  14.      SIO.SYS
  15.  
  16.      If you are going to use standard communications ports, either COM1 or
  17.      COM2 on an ISA bus (AT or clone), or COM1 through COM4 on a PS/2, then
  18.      add the following line to your CONFIG.SYS file:

  20.           DEVICE=SIO.SYS
  21.           DEVICE=VSIO.SYS
  22.  
  23.      Be sure to REMark out the COM.SYS and VCOM.SYS device drivers if they
  24.      exist in your CONFIG.SYS.

  26.      With the above statements you will be able to use standard COM1 and/or
  27.      COM2 (if they exist) on any PC system known to the author.

  29.      If your setup is more complex, you must read on.

  32.         If you are using Com3 or higher, refer to the SIO documentation
  33.         for your configuration.  (It's really easy to configure in most
  34.         cases though...)
